SKINTTDC seeks to provide the opportunities, challenges and infrastructures for personal growth to its artists, students, community members and future generations to come. As a diverse, four dimensional (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) performing arts organization, they strive to create and perform choreography based on storytelling and universal themes in a contemporary-fused modern dance style that is accessible and relatable.

Tina Thompson-Pope is the founder and Creative Director of the SKIN – The Tina Thompson Dance Company. She began her training at LADAKA and has studied at the Alvin Ailey and the Martha Graham Schools of Dance. Ms. Thompson attended the prestigious Juilliard School of Dance on a full Irving Ruckens Scholarship (BFA Program).

SKIN:DEEP  will makes its NYC debut on Tuesday August 30th 2011 at the historic Anthology Film Archive. The documentary headlines an evening of dance-themed short film programming.

‘Birds’ is a study exploring the behaviors of birds as demonstrated by women. The documentary uses ornithological facts as metaphor for the behavior of women.

Guided by narration, the film showcases a wide-variety of ‘species’ in assorte…d habitats and environments engaged in everyday routine activities.

Written and directed by Gregorio Smith.

Birds will be showing at Bowery Poetry Club – Sunday, April 11th at 2:00 pm.

We encourage all to arrive early as seating is extremely limited. Tickets are $7 and available only on the day of the screening.
